A Week of Gratitude (a themed Idealist post)

I’ve been contemplating whether to publish a list of things I’m grateful for.

The hesitation is that, were I to encounter a similar list written by a complete stranger, I’m not certain I’d be particularly interested.

Nevertheless, I’ve decided that gratitude need not be contingent upon public interest.

Which is fortunate, given the following…

1. Public Restraint

THE FACTS:

  • A few weeks ago, I highlighted my 46 year old hair.
  • This was out of the ordinary for me.
  • I like it.
  • Not a single other soul has offered a second opinion.

CONCLUSION

  • I am beginning to suspect that the silence is not due to a lack of observation, but rather an abundance of tact and for that, I am grateful.

#SILVERLININGS (which ironically, is how this all started also)

* Image for demonstrative purposes only. If my hair actually looked as good as her hair, you’ll surely would have noticed.

2. Decision Day

Our daughter decided on, was accepted at, and enrolled in a top notch college. All of her own choosing.

3. Location, Location, Location

Said college☝️being in a literal and figuratively COOL location.

4. BFFs

One of my BFFs walking side by side with fellow cancer
survivors #strength
Another of my BFFs coming to town for a couple of days,
equipped with a bike and clothes for clubbing (the golf
course kind).
Arriving at my parents' house to work for the day and
learning that two of my favorite cousins had called
from the airport and were on their way for a surprise
visit.
Our dog Lu being reunited with her sister after years
apart.

5. Forever Young

Scout turned 6, but will always be my LITTLE BOY SCOUT.

6. A Homecoming to Celebrate

The beauty of this relationship….

7. TRI’ed and Succeeded

Four triathletes improved their times by a combined total of 20 minutes over last year’s event.

8. Mother Time on My Side

My physical ability to hit tennis balls with the top male high school player in the state.

9. Closing Credits

I appreciate you. 😘

LOVE this. First, can’t wait to keep following Em’s journey *teary eyes happy face.* So beautiful that you got to be with your family. Heck yeah (!!) to doing your hair just for YOU! It’s beautiful you didn’t seek out a bunch of others’ opinions; our opinion of ourself is what cultivates true, deep confidence. Congrats to your athletes! If they ever want to do Boulder IM 70.3, they have a place to stay. I hope you keep posting more like these!
