1. The Reviews Are In

Compliment or Condescension?

Fellow Golf Employee: You’ve gotten a lot better. I watched you tee off once last year and you were pretty terrible.

Random Golf Patron: That’s a good score. I saw you in the Clubhouse last year and thought you looked like an athlete, but then I saw you on the Range and thought, oh, maybe not.

(Me: Um, okay, thank you?!?) ๐Ÿคจ

2. A Well-Tooled Conspiracy

Do you think tool companies intentionally design packaging such that you’d need tools to open tools?!?

3. Blast from the Unsurpassed

Speaking of tools, I’ve had ๐Ÿชฃ๐Ÿชฃ and ๐Ÿชฃ๐Ÿชฃ of fun with my new power washer!

The sidewalk on the side of our house looks wet, but the drastic change actually designates where I HAVE and HAVE NOT power washed. ๐Ÿคฏ

4. Endurance Exuded

I finished Discipline is Destiny by Ryan Holiday.

Talk about discipline. ๐Ÿ˜‰

5. My Work Here is Done

New school year. New season. New athletes.

Day 1 in the Weight Room:

Me (to Tony): Does Jackson know the prescribed lifts and/or need his form checked?

Tony: Jackson is a State Champion Power Lifter so I’m going to say not.

6. Nearly There

– My VO2 MAX is at an all-time high of 49. The goal is 50.

– The last time I golfed, had I scored holes 8 and 9 the same as my previous round, I would have posted a ridiculously improved personal best of 43! This didn’t happen, but the possibility is now a reality.

– In our last adult league softball game, I was 4 feet short of an outside-the-park homerun (= a double).

* I had an inside-the-park homerun in that same game, which may explain the increase in VO2 MAX. ๐Ÿ˜‰

** For softball purposes, please note that the official record considers me an adult.

7. The Long Run

There once was a girl who always arose well before dawn.

After brief introspection and a spot of coffee, she was gone.

As she rushed out the door, a hat she’d don.

To her life, she felt like a pawn.

And when she got home, she still needed to mow the lawn.

By evening, she couldn’t help but yawn.

One day, she pondered, is this a con?

Must I hit everything head-on?

Yes, bring it on! Life is a marathon.

I’d rather be running it than at the bottom of Lake Huron.

8. Crabby About Crabgrass Construction

I made a goal to finally rid our yard of crabgrass, dandelions, weeds, etc. I put down pre-emergent in the Spring and have spent hours on my hands and knees picking the weeds that emerged despite pre-emergent. And then the utility companies showed up:

Maybe I missed the small print on the pre-emergent bag?

Pre-emergent ineffective against utility companies that may demolish treated and untreated areas via so-called easement.

9. Closing Credits

I appreciate you.

And I appreciate your readership. ๐Ÿ˜˜
