I briefly considered running minimally during my taper week, but all signs pointed to no:

Despite a bare bones taper week, I completed the 50K RACE! Butt, my gluteus found its maximus.

My right glute made it 29 miles.

The rest of me made it the 31 32 miles—both the 50 Mile and 50K course were a mile longer than agreed upon up.

THE AFTERMATH

Later that evening….

my husband was in position over the top of me….

whilst I released agonizing whimpers….

in a tent….

with a nearby campsite….

occupied by a Boy Scout troop….

and thus, for the record….

A Personal Best

I finished my 50K at 3:30 PM.

I showered at 10:30 PM…

the next day.

Among 300 runners, I’m fairly certain I podiumed in the Delayed Hygiene Division.

In my defense, there was camping and roadtripping involved.
