1. Adrift

Quotes from 438 Days—An Extraordinary True Story of Survival at Sea by Jonathan Franklin:

“Many people suffer only because of what happens in their head; I was also physically being tortured. I had no food. No water. If I can make it so can you. Be strong. If you think you are going to die, you will die.” – Salvador Alvarenga

Hmmm….I am suffering because of what is happening in my head. 🤔

“One of the most dangerous things you can do in life is to try and minimize all risks. You never fall on your face, nothing happens, and so when something big happens, you’re totally unprepared, you have no tool kit.” —Steve Callahan

Hmmm…what if you’ve spent your life taking every risk, built the toolkit, and still feel like the world won—so what’s the point of using it?

“Humor is a signature characteristic of survival. And in a survival situation, it is the first thing that goes and the last thing that comes back,” says Dr. John Lynch, the survival physiologist. “So, if you’ve got a survivor that shows a proper sense of humor, then that person has adapted.”

2. And With That (humor in mind)

K.J.’s Comedy Sketch

When you’re at work, and have a sinus induced migraine, and need to retrieve something from the walk-in cooler, and choose to stay in there awhile.

When you think the sinus rinse water, previously boiled, is sufficiently cooled down enough to squirt up your nasal passages and find out that it was not.

When you feel like you’re jogging at 2 mph, but the Your Speed sign reads 38 mph as you dash by (I didn’t see a truck; did you?).

3. Why Didn’t You Tell Me That?

The warning label on the hairdryer warned me of electrocution, but didn’t warn me that the warning label would melt if in contact with a 430° hair straightener.

6. How it Came About

Don’t ask where I thought heard this reference or how it came to be part of my vocabulary….

FUC|<T@$T!C

(if you’re questioning if the pun was intended…it was)

7. It Doesn’t Get Any Closer Than That

8. Muchas Gracias

I’m grateful for my boss being grateful for me “sticking around” to get paid to read my library book while no one golfed or came into the Clubhouse.

Except these passionate souls…

9. Closing Credits
