To Whom It May Concern and FWIW,*

  • I need to know whether I contracted poison oak, poison ivy OR broke out in hives as a reaction to a bee sting because each effect has a cause this is just as likely as the other two causes and resulting effects. Worse yet, I needed not to have made my well-being worse when my sole purpose in clearing weeds from the side yard and running (into a swarm of bees apparently) was to increase my well-being!
    • I needed for the medicine that cost more money than the lendee gave me (see below) to have performed as expected by the advertisement on the box that read, “It Works!”.
      • I need to not be sitting here feeling like my eye is now itching.
I needed to have specified for AI that the woman had “RASHES FROM” poison ivy on her forearms AND that she possess the appropriate number of fingers with fingernails opposite her palm. 🤣
  • A couple weeks ago, a gentleman was visiting our golf course for his 50th High School Class Reunion Golf Outing and found himself flabbergasted that our course didn’t rent golf clubs. His tee time was fast approaching. In other words, he NEEDED golf clubs! I offered to lend him my golf clubs (formerly belonging to my Dad, who is about the same height as who we will now call, the lendee).
    • My shift ended before his outing ended, but one of the fellow employees texted me that my clubs were in the back office and “he said he put $20 in one of the pockets”; I didn’t need the money, nor had my offer been contingent on getting something back, but I was thankful for his generosity* because I do have a supplemental income goal for the Fall!
      • * This assumes one considers $20 to be generous when it costs $25-$50 on average to rent golf clubs for a round.
    • All was fine and dandy until this past week when I opened that zippered pocket for the first time and came across his (not needed) note:

Am I the only one that sees a problem here?!?

Fair to conclude that he didn’t win his foursome?!?

Dare I tell him that I played golf for the first time in 15 years this past week, and didn’t seem to have a problem** with the grips (I shot par on 2 holes)?!?

** My problem was with the sand, being rusty and my own ineptitude (which is the case whether I’m rusty or not).

And FYI…

“The average cost of regripping your golf clubs can range anywhere between $100 and $220 for a 14 club set.”

I lent him a 13 club set; therefore, he needed to leave me more money if I was actually going to use the $ for new grips.

JOIN NOW: PRICES GO UP TOMORROW

(with inflation, and their expected insistence, I wonder how much it will cost me to take Level 1 the 3rd time around?)

“I predict a Sinner win this year.”

New Sportswriter (Me)

Sinner had to default in the final versus Alcaraz due to sickness (because of the sweltering weather conditions? I did HIT on that in my article). BUT, that’s not to say that Sinner won’t dominate the rest of the decade (you heard it here first). Feel better SOONER rather than later SINNER!

  • I was trained for and took a first go at picking the golf course driving range. I needed not to have come within a half inch of a metal tree stake while driving a decent speed. #thatwasclose (I played it off as having already learned the EXACT turning radius of the picker cart, but Dan and I both knew I wasn’t that good).
  • I needed to have FINALLY cashed in on the benefit of free golf by actually golfing! 🏌️‍♀️
    • I needed for my drive game to go rather well!
    • I needed for everything else about my game to have gone rather well.
  • I needed to overhear this conversation…..

Daughter (staring at Grandma and Grandpa’s wall calendar): You’re going to an Usher concert?

Grandma: No, we’re USHERing at church that Sunday.

Daughter: That makes more sense. Could you imagine (with an expression indicating that she was trying to do just that)?!?

I appreciate your readership. I need the validation as writer; if there is a like or heart icon for you to depress, I’d most appreciate the support!

Sincerely,

K.J. Sculling

* The content is presented as “needs”, and some of them may front a harsh reality that evoke strong emotions. Others are expressed in pure jest to entertain myself (and maybe you?!?). Ultimately, the notion that we all live in a more idyllic world is at the core and not actual need. Life can be tough; regardless of your own circumstances, please keep up the fight because life can also be grand! The idea of ‘I Need…’ stemmed from my thought process while sitting at a red light listening to the song, Alright by Darius Rucker, on the radio (you can read the original ‘Idealist’ post here and all ‘Idealist’ posts here). If you’re inspired to submit your own ‘Idealist’ “needs” for future reader write-in posts, I’d love to hear from you via this form.
