Mission:
Seek out an ENT evaluation to confirm, one way or the other, if I have a deviated septum and if so, if that has been and is contributing to my migraine issues (including the one that sidelined me yesterday).
Wellness Why(s):
Physical
The Nuts & Bolts:
In my twenties, I broke my nose twice.
The first time — playing basketball at the Field House with my roommates versus men.
5’4” Girl Face vs. 6’2” Man Elbow = < Nose
The second time — laying out for a disc in the end zone in college ultimate frisbee.
Chest Hitting the Ground First –> Whiplash
Face vs. Not Soft Ground = Not a Win/Win Situation
Oh, and I probably broke my nose when I was 10 years old, jumped the boat wake on a knee board, came down with such velocity and with the nose of the knee board pointing into the water such that I torpedoed 5-10 down (despite the buoyancy a life jacket!) before finding the velcro strap to release myself and surface, only to be then struck in the face by the nose of the surfacing knee board.
Oh, and I probably broke my nose one other time playing ultimate frisbee.
In other words, I’d be surprised if I don’t have a deviated septum.
And I must have killed some brain cells in one or more of the above episodes because it took me years of migraine issues that leave my dysfunctional for 12-36 hours to possibly narrow it down to this (possibly within my control) being the problem, alongside changes in barometric pressure (out of my control).
That’s a wrap for the day; I NOSE what I need to do.
