Mission:

Per my mission to write a book in 2026 in which the best practices for each dimension of wellness is studied and then implemented for 6 weeks, I present to you the second 6 week “training block” mission pertaining to FINANCIAL WELL-BEING:

Based on the results of research – state, implement and execute the best financial well-being practices for the duration of February 15 – March 28.

* A recap of the research itself will be published in the book, as well as my before stock and after assessment.

Wellness Why(s):

Primary:

Financial Well-Being

The Nuts & Bolts:

The plan for application is as follows—and please keep in mind that this is personalized to our starting point here and now. While we are in a place to review and update estate planning documents, someone else may need to create them. Similarly, someone else may have recently shopped around and changed their insurance carrier, but we haven’t done this in years. 🫤

Administrative Discipline (one point per goal per week for a total of 12 points):

  • Sort mail and process anything actionable.
  • Review checking and credit card transactions (including fraud check).

Strategic Oversight (20 points)

  • Meet with Financial Advisor (full review: net worth, allocation, risk, tax strategy, projections). Prepare written summary of action items and follow-up.

Tax & Investment Optimization (5 points each)

  • File and pay taxes.
  • Max out retirement contributions for the year.
  • Transfer excess cash to investments intentionally (at least once, strategic amount).
  • Assess 529/college fund strategy.

Expense Intelligence + Organization (5 points each)

  • Audit subscriptions and cancel unnecessary ones.
  • Renegotiate one recurring bill.
  • Shop homeowners/auto insurance for comparison quotes.
  • Sort and use gift cards. Organize financial files, drawers, etc.

Protection + Infrastructure (5 points each)

  • Review estate plan (will, beneficiaries, POA updated if needed).
  • Document and securely organize all account logins.

Intentional Living Alignment (5 points each)

  • Create a written “Fun Fund” plan.
  • Review charitable giving strategy (amount, structure, intention).

Generational Wealth (8 points)

  • Mentor our heir on all of 👆.

Scoring Interpretation

90–100 → Strategic Operator
75–89 → Financially Strong + Slightly Under-Optimized
60–74 → Good Foundation, Lacking Intentional Refinement
Below 60 → Avoidance or Drift

Update On:

I’m sure that I will reference this mission in The Idealist posts, but otherwise, I guess you’ll have to wait for the book release.
